Southwestern offers geology course in Curry County

Southwestern Oregon Community College is offering an informative course in Geology for Property Evaluation and Development in Curry County.

The class – scheduled from 2 to 4:50 p.m. on Thursdays from Jan. 17 through Feb. 28 at the Curry County fairgrounds in Gold Beach – is appropriate for homeowners, real estate agents, contractors and anyone interested in learning about the geology of Curry County.

Local instructor Richard Bateman will teach students to recognize basic geologic conditions of Curry County that might affect their property. Topics include geology materials, slide and stability problems, drainage and erosion issues, groundwater occurrence and geologic resources of the area.
