Diversity in education is focus of guest lectureSouthwestern Oregon Community College is hosting a free special lecture for students and community members in coordination with the approaching Martin Luther King Day. In his talk “My Life as a Crow” guest speaker Bruce Thomas discusses the challenges and realities facing students of color entering higher education. Thomas, a professor of counseling and comparative literature at Glendale Community College in Arizona, is a two-time Fulbright recipient who has taught as an exchange instructor in Germany and China. He has been listed among the Who’s Who among American College Teachers for the last three years. The talk is scheduled at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29, in the Hales Center for the Performing Arts on the Southwestern campus in Coos Bay. Press Release Date: January 9, 2008
