Family Center gears up for Dr. Seuss celebration

The Southwestern Oregon Community College Family Center is celebrating literacy by commemorating Dr. Seuss Week with a Mulberry Street Parade at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, on the sidewalk adjacent to the Family Center.

Students will be sporting costumes and decorated bikes and wagons will be part of the show. The parade is one of many activities planned for the celebration, which continues with reading, green eggs and ham with rhyming words, green collage, dying hard-boiled eggs green for an egg relay. Foot Book activities will include footprint paintings, shoe games, painting pairs of socks to use as slippers. Classroom students also will be receiving 30 literacy backpacks that week.
