Free Intro to Online Learning classes scheduled

Southwestern Oregon Community College is offering two Introduction to Online Learning workshops from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursdays, March 20 and April 4, at the Brookings Center.

The free workshops – taught by writing instructor Marta Wozniak – are designed to introduce students to the BlackBoard platform that Southwestern uses to deliver online courses. Students will meet for a hands-on session in a computer lab to get acquainted with BlackBoard, then can complete the online course to become familiar with the delivery method. Completing the online course prepares students to take classes online.

“If you’ve hesitated to take a class online, this workshop is for you,” Curry County Dean Jason Wood said. “Many Curry County students are part-time students with full-time lives and find that online classes fit into their busy schedules.”

For more information or to register, those interested can call the Southwestern Brookings Center at (541) 469-5017.
