Cross-county orchestra concerts scheduled this spring

Southwestern Oregon Community College and the Curry County Del Norte Orchestra Guild are presenting the spring season “Symphony by the Sea Concerts” this month at locations in Curry and Del Norte counties.

Along with some of the classics – including works by Glinka and Dvorak – those in attendance will be able to enjoy an imaginary ride on the surrey from the Broadway musical “Oklahoma”; a visit to Hogwarts with music from “Harry Potter”; and enjoy a sampling of classical jazz.

The series kicks off at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 94190 Fifth St., in Gold Beach, with tickets available at the door and at Gold Beach Books. The second performance is set for 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, at the Elk Valley Rancheria, 2332 Howland Hill Road, in Crescent City, Calif., with tickets available at the door and at Del Norte Office Supply. The final performance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 28, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1200 Easy St., in Brookings. Tickets for that show are available at Mory’s Office Supply, Words and Pictures and at the door.

Cost of admission is $5 for adults and students in kindergarten through 12th grade attend free.
