Southwestern offers dance classes in Brookings

Southwestern Oregon Community College will be hosting two eight-week classes on Ballroom Dancing starting Wednesday, April 9 at the Harbor Fire Hall in Brookings.

Beginning Ballroom I will introduce students to meringue, a Latin dance; country two step, a smooth dance; and east coast swing. Beginning Ballroom I will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Beginning Ballroom II will cover the basics of the foxtrot and waltz. Beginning Ballroom II will meet from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Both classes will be taught by Debbie Weist, owner of Dance with Debbie studio in Crescent City, Calif. Cost per person to participate is $70. Participants should wear comfortable smooth-soled shoes, and singles and couples are welcome.
