Panels discuss justice system from both points of view

Southwestern Oregon Community College is hosting two discussion panels this month for those interested in criminal justice, social work and counseling, providing an opportunity to hear from individuals on both sides of the criminal justice system.

The first panel – scheduled at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, in Coaledo Hall, room 3, on the campus in Coos Bay – will feature men and women who have experienced correctional custody and treatment programs first-hand.

The second panel – scheduled at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, in Coaledo Hall, room 3, on the Coos Bay campus – will focus on corrections and treatment-related jobs. Guests will include representatives from Shutter Creek Correctional Institution, Coos County Community Corrections, Coos County Corrections Treatment Center, the Women’s Safety and Resource Center, Oregon Department of Human Services and Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment, among others.
