Southwestern course covers basics of sailing

Southwestern Oregon Community College is offering a four-week course to cover the basic principles of sailing next month in Coos Bay.

Veteran sailor Tom Mills will combine lecture hours and time on the water to teach participants sailing skills and techniques, rigging, docking and safety. Class is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays, May 7 through 28, and on Saturdays, May 17 through 31, in Stensland Hall, room 205, on the Southwestern campus in Coos Bay.
