College Recreation Center hosts basketball league

The Southwestern Oregon Community College Recreation Center is hosting an intramural basketball league and tournament during Winter Term, and community members are invited to participate.

Recreational teams comprising Southwestern students, as well as other community members, are welcome to participate. Teams must have a minimum of seven players, 18 years and older, and the cost to participate is $10 per non-student and free for current Southwestern students. Games will be scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning the week of Jan. 14.

Games – each administered by one or two officials – will include two 22-minute halves with a running clock. Each team will play a minimum of five games, depending on the number of teams participating, and up to 12 teams are guaranteed spots in the league. The postseason tournament seeding will be based on team standings. Tournament champions will receive a $100 pizza party gift certificate and will be honored on a plaque to be displayed at the Recreation Center.
