  • What is the dual admission and enrollment program?
    • The dual admission and enrollment program makes it possible to be jointly admitted and enrolled at both Southwestern Oregon Community College and the four-year school. In connection with the Southwestern Oregon Community College University Center, the dual admission and enrollment program provides students with the opportunities to complete a baccalaureate degree.  At Oregon State University this program is referred to as the Degree Partnership Program.

  • What are the requirements for admission?
    • The program is available to new and continuing students based on specific criteria. Requirements vary based on applicant type (U.S. Citizen/Permanent resident alien/International student) and whether you are first year or transfer student.
  • Who decides if I get admitted?
    • First time and transfer applications must meet the criteria for both institutions. The criteria for admission to the four-year schools is more selective than those of Southwestern.
  • How do I find out if I'm admitted?
    • The four-year school will send you your admittance letter and status.  Southwestern will also send you an admittance letter.
  • How do I get advising?
    • Advising occurs at Southwestern as well as through the four-year school.  Southwestern will send you your advisor's name in the acceptance letter or how an advisor will be assigned will be stated in the letter.  The four-year school will send you information regarding advising.
  • How and where do I register for classes?
    • You can register through regular registration processes at Southwestern (for Southwestern courses) and at the four-year school. The schedule of classes (available in print and on the web) provide additional information regarding registration. All schools have web registration. Note: A PIN (personal identification number) is required to register for classes.
  • How will tuition and fees be determined?
    • Tuition and fees are based on the number of credits that you register for. Southwestern tuition and fees will be assessed for Southwestern courses; Four-year school tuition and fees will be assessed for their courses. Tuition rate at the four-years schools is dependent upon residency classification of the student . Southwestern and four-year schools, by law, have different residency criteria. Therefore, residency classification of a student may not be the same for the two institutions.
  • What student services will be available?
    • Dually admitted students will have access to student services offered by both institutions. Academic advising and student orientation will be available to dually admitted students who have paid these fees.
  • What financial aid assistance is available to me if I am admitted under the Dual Admission/Enrollment program?
    • You are eligible for the same aid programs as an undergraduate fully admitted into a degree-seeking program. Aid availability will be based on the date you complete the FAFSA application files at Southwestern and your eligibility status.  Refer to the four-year school criteria for specific dates and deadlines associated with financial aid.
  • How would I apply for financial aid for this program?
    • You will need to complete the FAFSA application as required for financial aid consideration under the school section, list Southwestern - Federal School Code 003220. Generally, financial aid is received for up to 89 credits at Southwestern.  If you dually enroll at both institutions and your credits toward your degree exceed 89, the four-year school will generally provide financial aid funding.
  • Will I receive financial aid from both institutions?
    • No. You can only receive financial aid at one institution for the term in which you are registered. Even though you will be dually enrolled, one institution will be designated "home" institution and that institution will disburse your check.
  • How will my aid be determined?
    • Financial aid eligibility is based on the total credit hour enrollment. This dual program enables you to receive financial aid assistance from the home institution because the credit hours for which you enroll at Southwestern and the four-year school will be combined to determine your enrollment status. You will be assigned the designated home institution's financial aid budget to determine your cost of attendance and available funds.
  • Should I contact the Southwestern Financial Aid Representative at the Student First Stop Center if I am admitted to the Dual Admission/Enrollment program?
    • Yes, it would be helpful for you to contact the office to let us know that you have been admitted into this program and that you will be requesting financial aid from our institution. Our office can then coordinate your aid request with the appropriate offices involved.
      * Financial aid at Southwestern is disbursed to students beginning Thursday of the second week of each term. Southwestern "home" students may borrow up to $150 in emergency fund loans from the OSU Financial Aid Office to pay for books and supplies needed for OSU classes only.  Contact the University of Oregon for specific funds available for books while you are dually enrolled.
  • Who will decide which school is the home institution?
    • Based on your immediate degree objective and enrollment, Southwestern and the four-year school Financial Aid Offices will coordinate which office will be the home institution for aid purposes.
  • Can I change "home" institutions within the academic year?
    • Students are strongly encouraged to maintain the same home institution for the entire academic year. Transferring federal aid eligibility from one school to another requires application information to be on file at both institutions and increased coordination of benefits, which inherently causes delays in receiving financial aid.
  • How is my tuition be calculated?
    • You will be billed the appropriate (instate/international) Southwestern tuition and fees taken at Southwestern. You will be billed the appropriate (instate/international) four-year school tuition and fees. You will be billed separately by each school. Current tuition and fee rates can be found in the Schedule of Classes. However, student support services are available from the other institution for an additional charge.

Students admitted through the Dual Admission and Enrollment and the Degree Partnership programs are accountable to the conduct standards of both institutions while enrolled in the program.
