Certificate of Completion Paraeducator/Educational Assistant


The Certificate of Completion Paraeducator/Educational Assistant is a one-year certificate that prepares students to work in public or private elementary and secondary schools. Paraeducators/educational assistants serve in positions for which a teacher or another professional has ultimate responsibility for the design and implementation of educational programs and services. Emphasis is placed on competency-based skill development in child growth and development, classroom management, technology, individuals with disabilities, working with families, and basic instructional techniques.

-          25-9041.00 Teacher Assistants: Perform duties that are instructional in nature or deliver direct services to students or parents. Serve in a position for which a teacher or another professional has ultimate responsibility for the design and implementation of educational programs and services.

-          On-Campus room and Board: $6,226 (double room)

-          Books and Supplies: Estimate of $100.00 per text book per class = $1,500.00

-          Other Costs: Background check - $3.00 if resided in Oregon for the past 18 months.  $3.00 plus fingerprinting cost, estimated at $70.00, if resided outside of Oregon in the past 18 months. Any additional fees charged by Chemeketa, as core classes are offered through Chemeketa online.
