Southwestern received notice March 31, 2011 they have been awarded National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) specialized accreditation for their Childhood Education degree programs.

Both the Associate of Science with an emphasis in Childhood Education & Family Studies and an Associate in Applied Science in Childhood Education & Family Studies are received specialized accreditation through the NAEYC Early Childhood Associate Degree Accreditation program.
