Athletic Training
Thank you for visiting the Southwestern Oregon Community College (SOCC) Athletic Training Program website. Whether you are a high school student, currently enrolled college student, parent of a prospective student, or “web-surfer”, we welcome you to learn more about our outstanding program and the exciting athletic training profession. If you are interested in combining your enjoyment of athletics with medicine, Athletic Training may be the program for you!
This program is designed for students who are interested in an allied health profession specializing in the health care of athletes. Athletic trainers function as integral members of the athletic health care team in secondary schools, colleges and universities, sports medicine clinics, professional sports programs, and other athletic health care settings. The athletic trainer specializes in the prevention, assessment, management, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. The program at SOCC is intended to prepare students for transfer to a four-year institution with an Athletic Training program accredited by the National Athletic Training Association.
The Athletic Training Student (ATS) will have the opportunity to develop applied technical and clinical skills incorporating analytical problem-solving abilities to assist with the daily operation of traditional and non-traditional athletic training settings. In addition, students gain valuable hands-on experience athletics which will prepare them for an Athletic Training Education Program at a college or university.
The Athletic Training Program (ATP) is both challenging and rewarding. I encourage you to review the coursework for further information.
Good luck in your educational pursuits. If we can be of any additional assistance in answering questions you may have, please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely,
