Marie Simonds
Head Coach
In August 2004, Southwestern Oregon Community College hired Marie Simonds as the Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach. In addition to coaching, Simonds works on campus as the Interim Foundation Director.
Coach Simonds is a Seattle Washington native and a Boise State University graduate. Simonds played golf from 1999-2003 for the Bronco’s leading the team and the WAC as an “All Conference” player two years in a row with a scoring average of 74. In May 2003, Marie graduated from BSU with a B.A. in Communication.
The Southwestern golf team has an exciting and successful three year history. Both the men’s and women’s teams finished third place at the NWAACC Championships three years in a row. "I am expecting great successes this year as both the men’s and women’s teams look very solid. We have a lot of strong returning players and combined with the incoming freshmen, I expect us to be at the top.”

Michael Chapka
Assistant Coach
Assisting the team this year is Michael Chupka, former student golf athlete at James Madison University who graduated in 2007 with a B.A. in Marketing. Chupka is currently employed at Pacific Dunes at the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. “It is great to have someone with Chupka’s experience and expertise assisting the golf teams. We are so fortunate that our home golf course is Bandon Dunes Golf Resort which boasts three golf courses. The facilities are world renown and the Resort has given our team great access. Additionally, Coos Country Club has an excellent facility that the Southwestern golf team is able to play as well.”
