Brookings HS/Southwestern athlete signs with OIT
COOS BAY, OR – Kara Miller, a Guard/Forward for the Southwestern Oregon Community College Women’s Basketball Team the last two seasons, signed a national letter of intent June 4 to continue playing basketball next year at the Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT), a NAIA Division II Cascade Conference school.
The 5’10” wing/post player is originally from Brookings/Harbor High School in Brookings, Oregon. She averaged four points and three rebounds per game last season while serving as a team captain/leader both on and off the floor.
Miller will graduate from Southwestern this spring with an Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer (AAOT) degree. A stellar student, her Southwestern GPA of 3.75 earned her a spot on the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges (NWAACC) All-Academic Team this last season. Kara will attend OIT in the fall and pursue a degree in Psychology.
"Kara is a very determined individual who was a team leader both on the floor and in the classroom,” said head coach Mike Herbert. “Her presence on the team will be missed next season and there is no doubt she will be successful at OIT. I would like to thank Kara for her leadership the past two years at SWOCC and what she has done to help improve the women's basketball program here."
