LIB127 Navigating the 24/7 Library

1 credit  (1 lec, 3 lab hrs/wk)  LIB127 helps students navigate the current information landscape, where resources are often available 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Students learn how to access digital and print resources used for academic research and how to search appropriate resources effectively and efficiently by using basic and advanced search techniques. Students conduct electronic searches to find both online and print materials by using the library's catalog, periodical databases, reference databases, and the Internet. Students evaluate the usefulness of information in terms of an academic research question, access information both in print and online, and write and annotated bibliography. Topics for discussion include the ethics of using information, the analysis of a research question, and the development of a research plan.
