Articulation Procedures

Instructor/Course Approval

  • High school administrator completes Articulation Request Form.
  • High School administrator sends Articulation Request Form, college transcript of high school instructor with SWOCC Employment Application Form to.
  • starts articulation file (by instructor name and district.
  • Copy of file is delivered to appropriate Office of Instruction staff.
  • Office of Instruction staff and faculty determine approval of high school teacher.
  • Office of Instruction notifies high school administration and discusses logistics for implementation. Notice of approval/disapproval provided by Southwestern faculty, Human Resources Department and staff.

Course Evaluation - Quality Control

  • College faculty mentor assigned.
  • Mentor and high school instructor meet to discuss goals, grading, outcomes, student placement, etc.
  • Mentor and instructor meet as needed to make certain high school course is college level and meets course outcomes.
  • If difficulties arise, efforts will be made to find a collaborative resolution. However, continuing approval rests with the SOCC Office of Instruction.

Credit Logistics

  • Students meet class outcomes through agreed upon performance measure(s).
  • Students fill out and sign the appropriate registration form that is also signed by the instructor.
  • The high school teacher returns the Southwestern registration form to:

  • Instructor includes class roster with student grades.
  • The class roster and student grades are turned in to Aimee Higgins. Send forms to: Aimee Higgins, Career and Technical Education Assistant, Southwestern Oregon Community College, 1988 Newmark Avenue, Coos Bay, OR 97420. (541) 888-7443.
  • Career and Technical Education Assistant registers students and keeps needed records of students by school and course.
  • Career and Technical Education Assistant sends unofficial grade report to high school.
