Southwestern Oregon Community College will host Authors’ Night Friday, February 14 as part of the 19th Annual South Coast Writers Conference. Join the Gold Beach community for this exciting and uplifting evening. Author Melissa Hart will give the keynote presentation, Write the Thing Yourself: Shamelessly Crafting the Piece You'd Most Like to Read. Following her talk will be readings by the other conference presenters, as well as a chance for book sales and signing.
Melissa Hart lives and writes in Eugene, Oregon. She's the author of the memoir, Gringa: A Contradictory Girlhood. Look for her new memoir--The Wildness Within: A Romance, an Adoption, and a Snowy Owl--from Lyons Press in Fall 2014. Her essays have appeared in The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The Boston Globe, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Orion, High Country News, The Advocate, Adbusters, Hemispheres, Horizon Air Magazine, The Writer, and Writer's Digest. She also teaches Travel and Feature Writing courses at the School of Journalism and Communication, University of Oregon.
Authors’ Night – scheduled from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14, at the Showcase Building at the Event Center on the Beach - is free and open to the public. Space is still available for the conference workshops.
