BDC takes the mystery out of writing business plans

The Southwestern Oregon Community College Business Development Center is offering a nine-session program in Brookings to help current and potential business owners create written business plans to outline business success and use as a tool to obtain funding.

The Foundations for Success: The Business Plan Programs – which kicks off Sept. 30 – also benefits those interested in planning for expansion or retiring or selling a business. Participants will learn how to communicate their ideas to lenders or business partners; investigate the feasibility of a business idea; determine if financing is necessary and how much money to borrow; and estimate how much money the business needs to make over the next 12 months and develop an action plan.

Program format includes nine evening group meetings – scheduled from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. every other Tuesday starting Sept. 30 – as well as individual business advising, guest speakers and other helpful resources. Presenter Jim Bouley has extensive experience assisting small businesses in developing effective business plans. The program cost of $150 covers two individuals per business venture. Business plans also are eligible for awards. The program is being sponsored by the BDC and Chetco Federal Credit Union.

For more information or to register, those interested can contact the Southwestern Brookings Center at (541) 469-5017 or Gold Beach Center at (541) 247-2741.
