SWOCC Student Awards Convocation May 24Southwestern Oregon Community College Curry Campus will be hosting its annual Student Awards Convocation from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2013. Students will be recognized for their outstanding contributions and achievements over the course of the 2012-2013 academic year. Areas of recognition are Academic Excellence, Honor Roll, Dean’s List, Tutor Appreciation, SWOCC Scholarship Recipients, as well as the following Departmental Awards: Writing, Science and Math. Tasty treats will be provided.
Southwestern Offering Half-Tuition Pricing on Pre-College Math, Writing and Reading This SummerCoos Bay, OR. – Southwestern Oregon Community College is offering a half-price sale this summer. SWOCC is offering all Pre-College Math, Writing and Reading for half-tuition for summer of 2013. This is a great opportunity to kick start your college education or to prepare yourself for completing that degree or certificate that you have always wanted to pursue. The classes that are offered for half price tuition include: MATH 70 Elementary Algebra, MATH 94 Intermediate Algebra I, MATH 95 Intermediate Algebra II, Reading Skills 0751, 0752 and 0753, Writing 0525 Sentence Fundamentals, and Writing 90 Paragraph Fundamentals.

Driver Safety Program in Gold BeachAn AARP Driver Safety Program class is scheduled for Saturday, Maay 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Gold Beach Center, under the auspices of Southwestern Oregon Community College.
All attendees 55 or older who complete the Driver Safety Program are certified to receive a reduction in auto insurance from their insurance agent per Oregon state law, provided that all insured in the household are over 55 and have taken this class. Drivers who have previously taken the class and received auto insurance discounts are urged to renew their eligibility for reduced auto insurance rates by taking the class every three years if 69 years old or under and every two years if 70 or older.

Discover Collage Workshop for the next two SaturdaysBROOKINGS, OR – Discover collage as a true art form and means for personal expression. Southwestern Oregon Community College (SWOCC) is offering Discover Collage, a one-day workshop for artists and "non-artists" to discover and explore their creativity. Rich and varied collage materials, including three dimensional items are provided for participants to work with. Instructor will offer topics and examples.
Southwestern to offer flagger training in Curry CountyBrookings, OR. - Southwestern Oregon Community College is hosting a Traffic Control Flagger training class Tuesday, April 16, 2013 in Brookings. This course meets Oregon Department of Transportation requirements for traffic control flaggers. Students who complete this course will receive certification cards.
