Peruvian Cuisine Workshop Offered in Curry

Southwestern Oregon Community College is offering an exciting new cooking workshop in three Curry County locations.

Former Oregon Coast Culinary Institute student Monica Almond, born and raised in Peru, will share the secrets behind the true flavor of Ocopa (potatoes with a creamy peanut yellow hot pepper sauce), Ceviche (fish or mixed seafood with key lime juice), Aji de Gallina (hen stew with walnuts and parmesan cheese), Rocotto Relleno (stuffed hot peppers with ground beef, ground pork, raisins and hot peppers) and Alfajores (a melt-in the mouth cookie filled with manjar blanco). Delicioso—Buen provecho!

Workshops are scheduled for April 8 in Gold Beach at the OSU Extension Office; April 9 at the Brookings campus; and April 10 at the American Legion Hall in Port Orford. All workshops will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Choose the day or location that is most convenient for you.

Pre-registration is required by April 1 and class size is limited so register soon to secure your spot in this delectable workshop. Cost is $55.00 and all supplies will be provided. For more information, call the Gold Beach office at (541) 247-2741 or the Brookings office at (541) 469-5017.
