scwc workshop

Gold Beach, OR. - Registration continues for the South Coast Writers Conference in Gold Beach. The conference began as one man’s dream of energizing local writers and luring others to Gold Beach. This event has slowly evolved into a weekend-long session that is attended by more than 100 writers. The conference includes two days of workshops, author readings, book signings and a writer critique circle.

Several renowned writers serve as workshop instructors, addressing a variety of genres including fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction and songwriting, and writers of varying styles. This year’s group of presenters includes William Sullivan, Linda Barnes, Merritt Barnes, Judy Cox, Bruce Holbert, Elizabeth Lyon, Carolyn J. Rose, Johnny Shaw, Lauren Sheehan, and Bob Welch.

Keynote speaker for the conference will be non-fiction and outdoor column writer, William Sullivan, author of one of Oregon’s 100 books Listening for Coyote. He writes a monthly outdoor column for the Eugene Register-Guard and the Salem Statesman-Journal. Sullivan will give the keynote address, Confessions of a Professional Writer.

Workshops begin Friday, February, 15, 2013 with participants choosing one of three seminar selections. Four 90-minute workshops are offered on Saturday, February 16, with five options for each session. Cost for the Friday seminar is $55 and the cost for the workshops on Saturday is $60 ($70 after January, 31). Authors Night with keynote speaker William Sullivan is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on February 15, and will be held at the Showcase Building at the Event Center on the Beach and is free to the public.
