Several Southwestern Oregon Community College students in Curry County are celebrating their completion and passage of the GED exams.
To honor its GED completers from throughout the College District, Southwestern will be hosting a graduation celebration at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 13, in the Hales Center for the Performing Arts on the Coos Bay Campus. One student Curry County, Jacob Howe from Brookings, is scheduled to participate.
Southwestern Board Chair Lonny Anderson and Board Member Marcia Jensen, as well as President Dr. Judith Hansen and GED graduate Ernestine Brannon, will speak to the 26 GED completers who are planning to participate in the ceremony. A reception with refreshments will follow for the graduates and their families, as well as community members, at 5 p.m. at Oregon Coast Culinary Institute.
The 2008 Southwestern Oregon Community College GED graduates from Curry County include: Daisy Rogers, Brookings; Stephanie Sigvartsen, Gold Beach; Heather Stoebe, Gold Beach; Jacob Howe, Brookings; Matthew Linschoten, Brookings.
