Coos Bay, OR – Southwestern Oregon Community College is offering a Basic Nursing Assistant class in Brookings starting July 7, 2015. This one-term class prepares students for entry-level positions in health care. Students who successfully complete the Basic Nursing Assistant class are eligible to take Oregon’s Certified Nursing Assistant exam for licensure.
Anyone interested in becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is encouraged to stop by their local college office and pick up the application packet and calendar. This class is limited to ten students, selected on a first-come, first-served basis from completed application packets. Applicants are required to take a college academic placement exam, provide proof of immunizations, have a current CPR card (see application for card requirements), and complete forms including a criminal background check to complete their packet. The Basic Nursing Assistant class is scheduled three days a week and includes both lecture and clinical practice. The class starts July 7, and includes attendance requirements. Applications are due by June 9. Cost of the class is approximately $1,000 including tuition, fees, books and supplies. This class will meet at the Curry Campus in Brookings, and at Curry Good Samaritan Center.
