The Case of the Disappearing Pizza

Let's practice our strategy on another story problem.

The math instructor liked his class so much that one day he surprised them
by buying pizza for all 15 students and 5 tutors.  Everyone got 2 slices and
three tutors got knocked to the floor fighting over the remaining 2 slices.
If the generous, good-hearted instructor purchased 6 identical large pizzas,
into how many slices was each cut?
Remember, the goal is not just to solve a problem.
You're learning a different way of approaching
story problems that may make future story problems
a piece of cake-- or pizza, as the case may be.

So go ahead and read the problem a couple times
until you have a mental picture of what’s going on.

If anyone is handy, you could try explaining the story
to a friend in your own words. Don't worry about all
the numbers, just get a sense of what's going on.

If you actually wrote down what you were telling
your friend, we'd call that a paraphrase.  Why don't
you click the pizza and see how I paraphrased the story.
