Request for Proposals
In order to tap into the wealth of knowledge within our own Southwestern faculty, the Faculty Development Committee is sponsoring a series of “Better Teaching” Workshops on campus. Our vision is to provide an opportunity to focus on current teaching issues and methods—a way to share “best practices” in a collegial and professional environment.
Requirements
Each workshop presenter will provide the following components:
- A polished and professional two-hour block of instruction with appropriate learning materials.
- Content should address current teaching methods that could apply to a broad range of disciplines.
- Instructor should provide the participants opportunities for follow-up.
Notes
- Presenters will receive a stipend for their efforts.
- Faculty Development Committee will help provide room logistics and promotion.
- The date and time will be determined by the presenter.
- Example topics may include:
- Writing Across the Curriculum
- Using Collaborative Workgroups
- Encouraging Critical Thinking
- Helping Students Overcome Test Anxiety
To Propose a Workshop…
