Sam Choat Scholarship

Thank you for choosing me to receive this scholarship, I know you won’t regret it. I am planning on attending SOCC for at least the next two years. I know that staying in my hometown is the correct choice financially and because we have this amazing community college. I have lived in Coos Bay, Oregon my whole life and I have become really attached to my little community. In my spare time I enjoy playing tennis, soccer, and competitive card games. This year I was involved in knowledge bowl, the chess team, drama, and Forensics: Speech and Debate. I was the lead role in the play this year, “You Can’t Take it With You.” I also qualified for nationals in forensics, and actually, myself and my teammates are leaving tomorrow for Wichita, Kansas."
