Pacific Power Foundation has awarded a $5,000 grant to Southwestern Oregon Community College Foundation for the Natural Resources Summer Bridge Program at Southwestern in Coos Bay.
SWOCC Select Boyd Bjorkquist As 2014 Distinguished Alumnus
Coos Bay, OR – Southwestern Oregon Community College (SWOCC) is honored to announce the selection of Boyd Bjorkquist as the 2014 Distinguished Alumnus.
Boyd has distinguished himself throughout his career in education. He continues to demonstrate leadership, a strong commitment to community, and dedication to educational advancement for himself, his colleagues, and most importantly the students he works with. Boyd is highly respected by both colleagues and students around the state and nation. Tom Nicholls nominated Bjorkquist and shared, “The characteristics that Boyd embodies are what attract people to him. He is a man of character. He’s genuine, honest, creative, inspiring, and articulate.”
Realtors Create College Scholarship Fund
The Coos County Board of Realtors® has joined with the Southwestern Oregon Community College Foundation to create a permanent scholarship fund. Over the next four years, the Realtors®’ will donate $10,000 to an endowment to fund annual scholarship awards to Southwestern students in their second year of college.
Superheroes give Southwestern Scholarships
Coos Bay - Superheroes are fictional characters portrayed in movies and books as people who have a strong sense of responsibility, a formal calling or strong belief in justice and humanitarian service. But we also have real people in our community who have a calling to serve others and we believe they are Superheroes. We want to introduce you to them.
