The Southwestern Foundation is pleased to announce the installment of the donor wall for the Hales Center for the Performing Arts Campaign. Every donation received for the campaign is recognized on the wall that now hangs in the entrance to the Hales Center for the Performing Arts.

SWOCC wants to connect with all nursing alumni as plans are underway to celebrate the 50th class of nurses. Beginning their studies at SWOCC as early as 1962, the first nursing graduates walked across the commencement stage in 1963.
Coos Bay, OR. – Kathy Laird, R.N. M.N, CEO of the Waterfall Clinic in Coos Bay has been nominated and selected as the Distinguished Alumni of Southwestern Oregon Community College for 2012. Beverly Segner, Laird’s nominator and current board member of Waterfall Clinic said that Laird exceeds in all the Distinguished Alumni criteria of leadership, professional growth, educational advancement, and community involvement.
More than 100 high school students with a penchant for the visual arts came from all over the college district and beyond, for a special day hosted by the Southwestern Oregon Community College Foundation (SWOCC) and the Coos Art Museum. It started with lunch at the Oregon Coast Culinary Institute and included a culinary demonstration of Beignet, a French pastry that is prepared with a flambé of pineapple and rum.
After lunch the SWOCC Student Ambassadors escorted the students to the music and art departments, college residential housing and the recreation center. The students traveled on to the Coos Art Museum where James Fritz, Art Instructor from SWOCC recognized the winners of the “Visions” art competition. The top three winners, were given two-year tuition waivers at the college as well as a cash award of $250, $200 and $75. Their work will become part of the permanent collection at the college. The student art work will be on display at the Coos Art Museum from March 2 – April 21, 2012.
