Please welcome Sarah Miller to the Southwestern family. She has been hired as the Math Technology Lab Coordinator and will be located in this new lab in Randolph 9.  She started her position on March 31st .

Sarah graduated from Tillamook HS in 1998 and attended Pacific University.  While there, she majored in Physics then switched to Mathematics and completed her bachelor’s degree in the spring of 2003. After graduating from Pacific, she attended Oregon State for 2.5 years where she took undergraduate course work in civil engineering and graduate level course work in mathematics.

Since 1998 Sarah has worked off and on in a lab setting as a tutor for both lower-level math and physics.  She was also deeply involved with the American Society of Civil Engineers while she attended Oregon State and acted as the student chapter’s Activities Coordinator for two years.

She spent one year working as a CAD Technician for a very small civil engineering office in Manzanita, Oregon.  Most recently, she has been employed as a one-on-one special education assistant at Broadway Middle School in Seaside, Oregon.

Sarah is excited about being at Southwestern, now, and in a position that is the perfect combination of her career interests.

In her spare time Sarah likes to take long walks, read, and take photographs.

Sarah can be found in the lab or you can contact her by phone at 541-888-7624, or by e-mail at samiller@socc.edu

The Math Technology Lab has been made possible through SOCC's Teaching and Learning Innovations Grant, funded by the United Stated Department of Education, Office of Post Secondary Education, Title III, Strengthening Institutions Grant.
