Fall term started with full staffing of the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC). Helping to facilitate many exciting changes across the campus are full time TLC staff members; Karen Matson and Katie Paulson.
Karen Matson began working out of the TLC in January 2007 assisting faculty with development and delivery of their online courses. Karen assists both students and staff in resolving WebCT technology issues.
Karen earned a B.S. with an emphasis in Psychology from Florida State University in 1985, and her M.S. in Information Studies from Florida State University in 2002. She worked at FSU as a neuroscience research associate for 17 years. She has been the Instructional Designer and Support Specialist for WebCT at Southwestern since 2004.
Katie Paulson began her new position as Title III Activity Director/Teaching and Learning Center Coordinator with the start of the Fall term. In her new positions, she coordinates, monitors, and implements activities for the Teaching and Learning Innovations Grant. Currently she is working with the Faculty Cohorts, Math Department, and First Year Experience activities outlined in the grant.
Katie began her work experience as a soldier in the U.S. Army. After leaving the military she worked in various careers while attending school. For the past five years, she taught in the Adult Learning Skills Program at Southwestern. She earned a B.A. in Social Sciences from Washington State University in 1998 and a Masters of Education with emphasis in Adult Education from Oregon State University in 2006.
