Hear Our Story

Southwestern History in Coos Bay

Southwestern holds an important place in the community college movement in Oregon. It was the first community college chartered after the law changed in 1959 that allowed college districts to be created. It was the people of the South Coast who led the charge to get the law changed. It was the people then and it continues to be the people today that support and keep the College alive in Coos Bay.
