How to Apply for Jobs at Southwestern

Thank you for your interest in Southwestern Oregon Community College.  Here are some things that you should know about submitting your application and also about our search process.

Submitting your application

  1. Our jobs are categorized by type - Temporary, Classified, Administrative or Faculty.  Internal openings are open only to current employees for the college.
  2. The job announcement will provide information on the primary purpose of the position, salary and benefits as well as instructions on what you need to send in for your application.  More details on the position can be found in the job description-a separate link found on the same page.
  3. The SOCC Application for Employment form is a fillable form that can be saved to your desktop.  At this time we are unable to accept electronic submissions so please complete the form, print it, and fax or mail it to us.
  4. You will need Acrobat Reader to use the form and to read the job description.  If you do not have Acrobat Reader, click here to download it for free. If you have problems with the document, please call us (541) 888-7115 and we will be glad to send you a copy of the application packet.

Our process

  1. After the closing or first review date, committee members screen all the applications and meet to determine whether the applicant pool is adequate enough to proceed on to interviews.  If so, they will select applicants to interview.
  2. Applicants identified for an interview will receive a phone call inviting them for the interview on a specified date and time as determined by the committee.
  3. When the position is filled, candidates who interviewed will be notified by telephone.  Letters will be sent to all other applicants.
  4. If the position is not filled after the interviews, one of several things may happen:
    • the committee may decide to return to the pool to screen again and decide on another set of applicants to interview.
    • the position may be re-advertised.
    • the search may be postponed to a later date or abandoned until further notice.
  5. In the event of any of the above happening, applicants will be notified by mail.
