Hold Request

When an item is not immediately available because it is already checked out, or held by another COASTLINE library, a patron may reserve the item by placing a hold request. Holds are requested via Coastline using your library card number.  This tutorial may prove helpful.

Library card application forms may be obtained from any COASTLINE library or print application.

  • Materials from other COASTLINE libraries are delivered to the Southwestern library via van service. Arrival time varies from 1 to 7 days depending on location of the lending library.
  • Borrowers are notified either by phone, email, or mail when material(s) are ready for pickup. Items may be picked up at the Circulation desk located on the main floor of the library.
  • Materials are kept on the hold shelf for 10 days from date of notice. After that time, unclaimed materials are reshelved, returned to the lending library, or put on the hold shelf for the next requestor.

Exceptions:

  • A hold request may not be placed on Southwestern course reserve materials.
  • A hold request may not be placed on "Reference" materials.
  • A hold request may not be placed on videocassettes or CDs owned by Coos Bay Public Library or North Bend Public Library. Loan policies vary at other COASTLINE libraries.
  • A hold request may not be placed on items that have a status of "on order" or "in processing".
