
Southwestern's Music Department
The Music department at Southwestern Oregon Community College boasts approximately 40 music majors with a staff of 13 dedicated Instructors to meet the needs of our diverse student population whether music major or non-major. We provide the musical training and education that is needed for students planning to transfer to a 4-year degree program. The department also offers ample performance opportunities for anyone wishing to perform in an ensemble regardless of major. The ensembles offered are: Orchestra, Jazz Choir, Symphonic Choir, Chamber Choir, Recorder Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, Jazz Band, Concert Band, and Stage Band.
Music News and Upcoming Performances
The Southwestern Oregon Community College (SWOCC) Music Department is continuing their popular Fidelity Fridays, a solo or group musical performance during each Friday noon lunch hour. The weekly event begins at 12 p.m. in the Empire Lobby between the Performing Arts Center and Dining Services. Members of the community are encouraged to join those on campus for music and lunch in the adjoining Empire Café or simply relax in nearby furniture and listen to the varying music styles performed by music students. more...
Inspired by the recent 50th Anniversary celebration at Southwestern Oregon Community College Foundation, the Music Department is celebrating the 47th year at Southwestern by inviting all who have performed in the departmental instrumental and/or vocal groups in the past to come help celebrate by sitting-in with the large ensembles this term!
