South Coast Writers Conference workshops still availableRegistration continues for the South Coast Writers Conference in Gold Beach. The conference began as one man’s dream of energizing local writers and luring others to Gold Beach. This event has slowly evolved into a weekend-long session that is attended by more than 100 writers.
King of Fish: The Thousand-Year Run of Salmon Author to Speak at SWOCChe Geology Lecture Series continues at 7:00 pm on Saturday, February 25th when Dr. David Montgomery presents “King of Fish: The Thousand-Year Run of Salmon”. Dr. Montgomery is a professor of Earth and Space Sciences at the University of Washington, studying geomorphology, the evolution of landscapes.

Europe in Black and White, ReduxYou are invited to view a rare selection of artistic travel photography created by former SWOCC instructor Vernon Sorenson. Between 1961 and 1982, Sorenson taught Photography , French and German at SWOCC . The exhibit opening will be February 10th at 1:30pm in Eden Hall and will be on display during February – March. This exhibit was originally on display in May of 1974 and was titled “Europe in Black and White.”

Donors and Friends of the New Curry Campus HonoredOne hundred friends and donors of the Curry Campus celebrated Thursday night in the newly constructed campus that opened recently for winter term. The evening dinner, held in the spacious two-story student commons, was hosted by the Southwestern Oregon Community College Foundation.
Public and Private Grants Arrive at SWOCCSWOCC received a grant of $1.48 million from the Department of Labor called the Credential Acceleration and Support for Employment Trade Adjustment (CASE). It was designed to serve those who had been laid off due to jobs going overseas, although the service population can meet a broader definition. Oregon was one of the highest funded CASE grants in the U.S.
Nurturing Parent Class in Curry County for First TimeA new class about parenting is being offered in Curry County for the first time, The class emphasizes raising children in a warm, caring and trusting home and helping children be respectful, caring and cooperative.
