Steps
- Once you file your FAFSA either electronically or by mail, it will
be processed by the central processor. They will send you a Student
Aid Report (SAR) or an Information Acknowledgment that is a summary
of your application.
- If you listed Southwestern Oregon Community College on you FAFSA,
the information from your application will be sent electronically
to the College.
- Once the Financial Aid Office receives the application, you will receive a small card that you need to return. This card is to confirm your interest in Southwestern and generates your unofficial aid package.
- You should complete the paperwork required as listed
in the Unofficial Award Package and return to the Financial
Aid Office by the priority deadline on the back of the letter or as soon as possible. After all paperwork is received in the Financial Aid office, the processing of the Official Award Package will begin.
- Once you receive your Official Award Package, you will have certain
responsibilities in order to maintain or keep your aid package. These responsibilities are listed in Your Award Booklet online.
- If you choose to take out a student loan at Southwestern,
the loan process is available online.
- If you are eligible for Federal Work-Study and want to work, you
can complete the next steps online by attending the online seminar and filling out
the required employment paperwork.
