Time Order : Events or ideas are discussed in relation to passing time.

Process : Emphasis on the order in which something occurs.

Definition : Emphasis on meaning of a word, phrase, idea.

Statement and clarification : Statement of fact with discussion intended to make that statement clear.

Classification : Analysis of where events, ideas, or facts fit in with other events, ideas and facts.

Summary : Condensed statement of the principal points in a larger statement or idea.

Comparison : Discussion of similarities in two or more ideas, events, or things.

Contrast : Discussion of the differences in two or more ideas, events, or things.

Generalization and example : Statement with examples designed to illustrate or clarify the statement.

Cause and effect : A reason or condition and the subsequent effect or conclusion.
