Southwestern Student Handbook
STUDENT PUBLICATIONS
The student newspaper, the Southwester, attempts to maintain complete coverage
of the campus and of outside events of interest, and is a student-managed
newspaper. The paper is free and is distributed on campus and in the community.
It can be mailed upon request.
The Beacon is a semi-annual literary magazine, printed under the
direction of the English Division. Twice a year, the staff requests
submissions of campus
and community-wide contributions, of articles, short stories, art, poetry
and photography. Deadlines are announced via poster, newspapers,
radio and television.
This material is incorporated into a magazine format available to the community,
at minimal cost, in the College Bookstore. Publication is always announced
by a Beacon reading. All students, regardless of major and interest, are
invited to become a part of these publications.
To become involved with the Southwester, contact Kate Bruner in Tioga
Hall on fourth floor. For more information about the Beacon,
contact your English instructor. STUDENT OUTCOMES & DEMOGRAPHICS
