TESTING SERVICES
Students who will be full-time, or who will be pursuing a degree or certificate
program, or who will be receiving financial aid, must have completed placement
tests before they may register. Placement tests may also be required before
students enroll in certain individual classes for personal interests. The
purpose of placement tests is to assure that students have the appropriate
level of academic skills to allow them to succeed in the course and/or program.
Students may not register in classes that require a skill level higher than
that indicated by their placement tests. This is particularly true in the
areas of math and writing. Students need to work with their advisors to assure
that they are placed in classes commensurate with their skill levels.
The Compass Placement Test is a computerized test, which is not timed.
Basic function calculators are provided for the math portion of
the examination.
Free sample test booklets are available in each testing center. The test
takes approximately two hours to complete in one session. Placement
testing is available
at:
- Coos Bay Campus (541) 888-7405 Stensland Hall, Educational
Support Programs & Services
- Testing is available on a walk-in basis 8:15 a.m. to 5:00
p.m. Monday through Friday
- Tests may be completed in more than one session; however,
if planning to complete testing in one session, start by 2:30
p.m.
- Curry Campuses
- Scheduled by appointment
- Brookings (541) 469-5017
- Gold Beach (541) 247-2741

It is an administrative policy that the College provides equal employment opportunities
to disabled veterans, veterans’ of the Vietnam Era and any other veterans
as defined by federal law who are qualified for jobs which are within their
capability to perform.
No individual will be discriminated against because he or she is a disabled
veteran, a veteran of the Vietnam Era, or any other veteran as defined by federal
law.
Employment and advancement decisions will be based solely on each
person’s
job qualifications.
All applicants and employees who believe themselves covered by the
Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974, and who wish to benefit
under an equal opportunity program are invited to identify themselves to the
Equal Opportunity Officer.
This policy is consistent with the Vietnam Era Veteran’s Readjustment
Assistance Act of 1974. In order to ensure compliance with this law, it is
the practice of the College to review this policy on a regular basis, and no
