FINANCIAL AID

Southwestern Oregon Community College offers a number of financial aid programs in the form of grants, loans, tuition scholarships, scholarships, and employment. Students interested in financial aid are encouraged to contact the Student First Stop Center for information and application forms. Funds are limited and students should apply early. Refer to the College catalog and other consumer information located at the Student First Stop Center for policies and procedures and application processes. For more information, see the Financial Aid web site under Campus Services at www.socc.edu.

Rec Center
The College has a fully-equipped fitness center in the Student Recreation Center. The center features aerobic exercise equipment, stair steppers, aerobicycles, rowing machines, treadmills, and free weights. The center is open during the regular school year. The Rec Center is for the use of students and staff who are enrolled in fitness classes. The Rec Center is also open, with reduced hours, throughout the summer and between terms. GRADUATION

Applications for graduation are located in the Dellwood Hall lobby. Deadlines for applying for graduation are published in the Schedule of Classes. Students planning to graduate may apply a year early and receive priority registration times during their final year.

INSURANCE
Student-paid major medical, health, and accident coverage is available. Applications and information may be obtained through Student Activities. Go online for more information at http://nssinc.com. A separate accident insurance policy covers student athletes who are practicing or competing as part of Southwestern’s athletic program.

All College employees, student employees, nursing students in a clinical setting, Board of Education members, and volunteers are covered by the College’s workers’ compensation insurance for work related injuries.

All injuries that occur during an approved College activity, whether occurring on or off campus, must be reported as soon as reasonably possible to Administrative Services,

INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS
Southwestern Oregon Community College started the first community college athletic program in Oregon. Southwestern is a member of the Northwest Athletic Association for Community Colleges (N.W.A.A.C.C.), which includes the community colleges of Oregon and Washington.

Presently, Southwestern offers five teams for men and five for women. Men compete in basketball, baseball, wrestling, soccer, and track. Women compete in volleyball, basketball, softball, soccer, and track.

The Lakers have a strong athletic tradition. Southwestern is known for its hometown support. Most athletic events are free to Southwestern students with I.D. cards. The Southwestern athletic department appreciates your support at home games, matches and meets.
