Student Services offered through our Curry Campus
Academic advising is available at the Curry Campus, Gold Beach Center or Port Orford office from the academic advisor or faculty advisors. To make an appointment for academic advising, visit any of the Curry SWOCC locations. See more information on advising.
SWOCC has computer labs available for student use at the Curry Campus and Gold Beach Center. Community members can also pay a fee to use the computer lab.
Counseling, Career Planning, and Disability Services
A counselor visits the Curry Campus, Gold Beach Center and Port Orford office twice a month to meet with current students free of charge. SWOCC counselors can help students experiencing problems that are preventing them from being successful in school (for example, test anxiety, stress over course work, relationship concerns, depression, etc.) Counselors can also help with career counseling and goal setting. To make an appointment with a counselor, please visit the Curry First Stop, Gold Beach Center, or the Student Services Coordinator. See more information on counseling.
Tools at the Career Center can help you make key decisions whether you’re deciding on a degree, looking for an internship, or preparing for job search. Spend some time exploring, learning about yourself and all the great resources at your fingertips!
All SWOCC campuses provide reasonable and appropriate accommodations to students with known disabilities. To begin the process for requesting accommodations, please visit SWOCC’s Disability Services Homepage.
Financial Aid Counseling
A representative from SWOCC’s Financial Aid department visits the Curry Campus and Gold Beach Center at least once a term. Financial Aid counselors are also available by phone from the Curry Campus. See more detailed information on Financial Aid.
Math and Writing Labs
Our Math Lab offers individualized instruction and assistance for students registered in mathematics classes at any proficiency level, from Arithmetic to Calculus. It enables students to learn/study at their own level and pace.
SWOCC offers a Writing Lab at the Curry Campus for students working on term papers in any class. Tutors don’t edit students’ papers, of course, but they do teach students to edit themselves, to develop their ideas, and to understand and address the requirements of the assignment.
For writing lab hours in Brookings, please email Marta Wozniak at firstname.lastname@example.org. Drop-in lab hours vary from term to term depending on Marta’s teaching schedule. Fall 2014 writing lab is scheduled on Fridays from 10 am to 12 noon.
Marta Wozniak’s writing lab is open to ALL Curry students. You don’t necessarily need to be registered in Marta’s classes. If you have a writing question and/or need advice on the draft of a paper written for any class, feel free to stop by during lab hours. Marta is always happy to help.
Placement testing, as well as test proctoring for students taking distance courses, is available at the Curry Campus, Gold Beach Center, and Port Orford office. To set up test proctoring, contact the Curry First Stop or Gold Beach Center. Students having exams proctored from outside universities or organizations will be charged a per term fee.
