Any SWOCC student, registered for a minimum of one paid credit per term will have access to the facility during open usage times (see above). Please login and logout with ID number at front desk.

Faculty and staff must be registered for a minimum of one credit per term or register at the Rec Center Front Desk (see below). Faculty and staff are encouraged to use their tuition waiver (if available) to sign up for a current physical education class (i.e., Super Circuit). Any person not already taking a credit class can register to use the Recreation Center. Contact the Recreation Center Front Desk for more information and to sign up. You can register for one-month ($42), three-month ($105), and 12-month ($350) sessions. Once your ID number is established with the college, please login and logout with ID number at front desk. There is also a Day Use Fee available for $5. Military/55+ - Register for one-month ($32), three-month ($90.00), and 12-month ($340) sessions.

Persons 10-17 years old are permitted to use the facility, with parent/guardian signature approval on the Rec Center Registration Form. For those 15 years and younger, an adult must be present with the youth. Persons 9 years of age or younger are not permitted to use the Recreation Center, unless otherwise specified by event, camp, or class.

  • Please treat your facility, equipment, fellow participants, and staff members with respect.
  • Participants must adhere to the dress code of each activity area (gym clothing while working out, athletic shoes, etc.).
  • Facilities and equipment must be used for intended purposes only.
  • We reserve the right to deny facility use to anyone refusing to comply with policies.
  • Southwestern's Student Conduct Code is enforced at all times. Violators will be ejected from the facility. Serious incidents or repeated abusers will be subjected to sanctions under the Student Code of Conduct. Non-student offenders or repeat abusers will be subjected to sanctions by the Recreation Center Director. Sanctions may include, but are not limited to: Suspension from the facility, revoking of privileges, student disciplinary sanctions, civil prosecutions, and others.
  • There is a risk of personal injury in all physical activity. You participate voluntarily and assume sole and full responsibility of all associated risks and for your own medical and/or emergency needs. You are encouraged to get a physical exam prior to engaging in vigorous exercise. This is particularly important if you have a special condition which may increase your risk of activity-related injury.
  • Please secure personal belongings in a locker. The SWOCC Recreation Center is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • Please report injuries, policy infractions, or damage to building, equipment, or furnishings to facility staff.
  • Profanity, abusive language, harassment of any nature, fighting, or offensive behavior. 
  • Tobacco products, drugs, alcohol, or weapons of any kind.
  • Bicycles, roller skates, roller blades, and skateboards.
  • Animals, other than certified aid animals.
  • Food and beverage past the lobby, other than closed-cap water bottles unless otherwise noted.

If an injury occurs, patrons should seek assistance from the nearest Recreation Center employee. If an employee is not in the area, patrons should notify the Front Desk, providing the location and condition of the individual. A Facility Supervisor or other staff member will evaluate the person's condition and provide immediate first aid, if necessary, to the best of their ability. Recreation Center employees cannot transport injured persons. If an ambulance is necessary, the employee will try to get verbal consent from the injured person. In all injury situations, the injured person and any witnesses will be asked questions about the incident for a report. Recreation Center employees are not trained to provide preventive first aid, such as wrapping or taping joints, and are not trained to apply splints to injured joints. People requiring such aid will be advised to seek professional attention.

  • A picture ID (i.e., driver's license) or approved Rec Center/SWOCC ID is required for check-out of towels and equipment. Your ID will be returned to you upon return of the checked-out item.
  • A wide variety of recreational equipment is available for checkout. A few items have a small rental fee associated with checkout. Inquire with the Front Desk staff. Card holding students are eligible to use this service upon the presentation of required identification. Equipment may be used inside or outside the Recreation Center. There is a $1.00 per-item per-day late return charge. A replacement charge will be assessed for lost or damaged equipment. Failure to pay this fine will result in a charge assessed to the user's college account.
  • Lockers are available on a first come, first served basis.
  • Lockers should always be locked; belongings should never be left outside the locker. Valuables should never be stored in the locker. Suspicious conditions or activities should be reported immediately to the front desk.
  • All lockers are for DAY USE ONLY! All lockers must be emptied, cleaned out, and locks removed by the time you leave the building. Any remaining locks may be cut and items may be removed and disposed of.
  • Users are responsible for the security of personal belongings. Facility users agree to adhere to these guidelines.
  • Acceptable Top: T-shirt, sweatshirt, full tank top (cover midriff).
  • Unacceptable Top: No shirt, bare midriff, sports bra, ripped tops.
  • Acceptable Bottom: Workout pants, sweatpants, shorts.
  • Unacceptable Bottom: Slacks, cut-offs, jeans, cargo pants, cargo shorts.
  • Acceptable Shoe: Athletic shoes.
  • Unacceptable Shoe: All other shoes (including dress shoes, sandals, and boots).
  • Backpacks and other personal items are not allowed on the floor or window sills. Lockers are available for day use to secure all belongings. The SWOCC Recreation Center is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • Please wipe down equipment after use, including all areas where your sweat may have dripped.
  • Do not block exits and walkways. Room 125 is often available for warm-up/stretching and as a core exercise area. The uses of mats, exercise balls, jump ropes, etc. are encouraged in this room.
  • Use collars on all Olympic bars.
  • Use spotters for heavy lifts.
  • P.E. classes have priority over the weight room facility. Please be respectful and work around those students.
  • Return and rack weights when finished.
  • Do not slam weights together or drop dumbbells, barbells or plates on the floor.
  • Do not throw medicine balls. Share equipment and allow others to work in between your sets.
  • Do not remove equipment from these areas (weights, medicine balls, benches, mats, etc.).
  • Do not use chalk and other grip-enhancing products.
  • Cardio machine use is limited to no more than 30 minutes when others are waiting.
  • No open-toed shoes are allowed in room.
  • Use of the rock wall area is at the individual's own risk. Climbers must read and sign a statement and assumption of risk/release document before being permitted to climb the wall.
  • Climbers currently must be enrolled in a Rock Wall class to use the rock wall, only during approved times.
  • A designated Rock Wall Supervisor must be present for use. Follow instructions of Supervisor at all times.
  • Climbing shoes (and socks) must be worn while climbing wall. Shirts must be worn (no muscle shirts).
  • No food, beverage, or personal items in climbing area.
  • The use of eye protection is strongly encouraged. Serious eye injuries can occur, including permanent eye damage.
  • This court is available in one hour blocks, starting at the beginning of each hour. Please reserve your time at the Front Desk. Reservations can be made up to 48 hours in advance (limit one reservation at a time). 
  • Please be courteous to those who may have a reservation before or after you.
  • A reservation not claimed 15 minutes into the hour may be canceled.
  • Shoes that may scuff or otherwise damage the floor are not allowed.
  • Walking is to be done on the outer most lane of the track.
  • No metal cleats are allowed anywhere on the soccer field or track.
