Teaching & Learning Center (TLC)

Southwestern Oregon Community College’s (SOCC) Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) offers facilitation, support and resources for teaching, learning, and technology to faculty and staff. These services are offered through multiple methods including; cohort trainings, a brown bag series, face to face and virtual workshops, interactive webinars, and one on one sessions.

Teaching and Learning Center Purpose and Mission

The Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) at Southwestern Oregon Community College was created through the support of the 2006-2011 Title III Strengthening Institutions Grant to better assist faculty in providing exceptional learning opportunities at SOCC. It is a place where faculty can share knowledge, exchange ideas, use specialized software, and attend training. Located in the TLC are the TLC Coordinator and Instructional Technology Specialist who are available to assist faculty and staff with any aspect of teaching and learning, from course design and teaching strategies to technology integration and online instruction.

  • To support and facilitate faculty efforts at SOCC to deliver quality instruction to all students with a focus on faculty selected priorities that are proven to positively affect student outcomes.
  • To promote the application of current principles of quality higher education to all aspects of teaching and learning at SOCC.
  • To assist faculty at SOCC in their educational endeavors.
