Fall Term 2025 “Welcome Week” Activity Schedules
COOS CAMPUS (1988 Newmark Ave., Coos Bay)
*Activities with an asterisk indicate event housing students are highly encouraged to attend.
Throughout the week (Monday, 9/8 – Friday, 9/12) = Complete the “Welcome Week Game Plan” Explore 10 key campus locations, collecting colors and info along the way. Turn in your completed sheet at the Campus Store for daily prizes and a shot at the $220 Grand Prize Gift Basket (featuring Writech gear + a $50 gift card)!
Friday, 9/5
- 9:00 am – 4:00 pm = Housing Students: Housing Move-In (Lighthouse Depot): Housing students only – move-in to apartments. Check-in at Lighthouse Depot for further directions.
Saturday, 9/6 GAME DAY! Cheer on fellow Lakers as they battle it out on the field and on the court:
- 12:00 Noon = Men’s Soccer Game vs. Portland Community College (Track/Soccer Field)
- 12:30 pm = Volleyball vs. Lane Community College (Prosper Hall Gym)

- 12:00 Noon = Housing Students: FREE Pizza Party (Lighthouse Depot)*: Find your Resident Assistant for Campus Tours and other local recommendations.
Monday, 9/8
- 9:00 am – 10:00 am = Housing Students: Mail, Packages & Campus Perks Presentation (Umpqua Hall): Learn about where to find/receive your mail and other campus advantages!
- 10:00 am – 12:00 Noon = Crochet Lessons (Tioga Hall – Library): Learn to crochet! No experience necessary – learn the (very) basics. All materials provided.
- 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm = Field Day (Student Recreation Center): Join us for an afternoon of games, music, and sweet treats!
- 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm = RC Cars (Library, 2nd Floor of Tioga Hall): RC cars in the library! Bring your own car or use one of ours.
Tuesday, 9/9
- 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm = RC Cars (Library, 2nd Floor of Tioga Hall): RC cars in the library! Bring your own car or use one of ours.
- 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm = FREE Magician Show (Hales Center for the Performing Arts “PAC” located in Empire Hall)*: Don’t miss magician Hart Keene! This Oregon-based mentalist and illusionist has wowed audiences nationwide—including an appearance on America’s Got Talent—and now he’s bringing his mind-bending show to SWOCC.
Wednesday, 9/10
- 10:00 am = Housing Students: Resident Assistant-Hosted “Craft-nival” (Lighthouse Deopt): Play games, get creative with crafts, and earn raffle tickets for prizes like merch, gift cards & dorm essentials!
Thursday, 9/11
- 9:00 am – 12:00 Noon = Housing Students: Banner Making & T-Shirt Tie-Dying (Lighthouse Depot): Get creative with color! Each resident will receive a t-shirt to tie-dye their own style, plus work together on banners for your building to show off at the Lighthouse Games the next day.
- 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm = “C” is for Consent (Hales Center for the Performing Arts “PAC” located in Empire Hall)*: This is a mandatory presentation for Housing Students, but all students are encouraged to attend!
Friday, 9/12
- 10:00 am – 12:00 Noon = Crochet Lessons (Tioga Hall – Library): Learn to crochet! No experience necessary – learn the (very) basics. All materials provided.
- 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm = Housing Students: Lighthouse Games* (Lighthouse Depot): Geared toward Housing Students, join us for the initial “Battle of the Buildings” event!
Saturday, 9/13
- 10:00 am – 12:00 noon = Service Saturday! Trail Clean-Up (Parking Lot 2 – Behind Tioga Hall): Volunteer in partnership with the Oregon Bay Area Beautification (OBAB), to help beautify our SWOCC Campus Trails near John Topits Park. Please dress appropriately for working outdoors. Bring, work gloves, cutting tools for invasives, trash grabbers if you have them, water, and sunscreen. Trash bags and the disposal will be taken care of.
- 12:00 noon = Men’s Soccer vs. Rogue Community College (Track/Soccer Field): Cheer on the Lakers as they battle it out on the soccer pitch!
- 2:30 pm = Women’s Soccer vs. Umpqua Community College (Track/Soccer Field): Cheer on the Lakers as they battle it out on the soccer pitch!
- 9:00 pm – 11:00 pm = FREE Bowling (North Bend Lanes): Enjoy some laid-back fun at the bowling alley with fellow Lakers—shoes and games are on us!
Sunday, 9/14
- All Day = Housing Students: Final Resident Assistant-led Campus Tours: Check in with your Resident Assistant (RA) and make sure you have everything ready for the start of classes on Monday, 9/15.

- 12:00 Noon – 2:00 pm = Laker Welcome & BBQ! We encourage all students to join the fun! Get your questions answered by faculty and stff–whether it’s about admissions, graduation, or anything in between. Take a tour, grab some BBQ and bring your family along for a great time!
