Arnold Sylvester returned to school in Fall 2005 to earn his GED. He wanted to change and acquire professional skills.
High scores on the GED test qualified Arnold for a Southwestern Scholarship. He's working on his two-year degree and would like to transfer to a university where he plans to study computer modeling of theoretical physics. Arnold maintained a 4.0 GPA, and has received honors for Academic Excellence.
Southwestern Oregon Community College is hosting a summer class in Tai Chi – an ancient Chinese form of gentle choreographed movements that is practiced to benefit body, mind and spirit – starting June 23 in Curry County.
The class – led by certified Tai Chi and Chi Kung instructor Saun Stone – is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the term at South Coast Fitness Center in Harbor.
