BROOKINGS, Ore.— Southwestern Oregon Community College will host a free Community Education Showcase and Meet & Greet event at the Curry Campus (96082 Lone Ranch Parkway, Brookings). The event takes place on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Local residents can explore upcoming courses, sample mini-sessions, and register for classes on-site.

The showcase connects community members directly with enthusiastic and experienced instructors. Attendees can preview lifelong learning opportunities in various subjects. Featured subjects include cooking, arts, business skills, technology, fitness, finance, and languages. 

Event highlights include:

  • Instructor Meet-and-Greets: Speak face-to-face with local teachers.
  • Mini Sessions: Participate in 15-minute interactive class previews.
  • Course Previews: Review materials, syllabi, and previous student projects.
  • Immediate Answers: Ask questions about schedules, skill levels, and required supplies.
  • Fast-Track Registration: Secure spots before popular community classes fill up.

"Discover a new hobby, learn valuable skills, and connect with your community," said Jill te Velde, Dean of the Curry Campus. "We cannot wait to help you start your next learning adventure."
